SAFARI ARMAX SNORKELS FOR THE 70 SERIES
THE PREMIUM TIER OF SAFARI INTAKE ENGINEERING
The Safari ARMAX is the top-tier snorkel in Safari's range, engineered with computational fluid dynamics modelling to deliver maximum airflow at every throttle position. Compared to a standard snorkel, the ARMAX uses a larger bore intake body and a high-mount ram head designed to scoop air rather than just gather it. For 70 Series owners running engine upgrades, long-distance touring, or anything that pushes the airflow demand higher than stock, the ARMAX is the snorkel that does not become the bottleneck. It is the most expensive of the Safari options because it is genuinely the most capable.
UV-STABILISED POLYETHYLENE, AUSTRALIAN ENGINEERED
Each ARMAX snorkel is moulded from UV-stabilised polyethylene in Australia, designed and tested for Australian operating conditions. The polyethylene resists stone impacts and UV degradation through years of dirt-road and outback use. The body shape is engineered for proper airflow rates matched to the specific 70 Series engine, with the airbox connection sealed with a purpose-made adaptor for an airtight intake. Mounting templates use existing guard holes plus a small number of additional cuts that the supplied template marks precisely.
ENGINE-SPECIFIC ARMAX VARIANTS
ARMAX snorkels are matched to the specific engine because intake bore size and ram head orientation differs. The 1HZ 4.2L diesel in the older 75/78/79 (1990-2007) uses a different ARMAX to the 1VD-FTV 4.5L V8 in the 2007 to 2023 vehicles. The new 2.8L 1GD-FTV and the facelift V8 each have their own ARMAX option. Each listing confirms exact engine code and year fitment. Pre-cleaners and air rams from the broader Safari range pair with the ARMAX for additional filtration on extreme dust environments.
